Professional Development Funding

The Centre for Community Engaged Learning (CCEL) works to connect communities with UBC faculty and students to work on issues that impact society. The Centre provides small grants of $300 to $400 to faculty in recognition of their demonstrated commitment to community engaged pedagogy.

Strong requests will focus on opportunities that enable at least one of the following:

  • Increase an instructor’s awareness and understanding of how community engaged learning pedagogical practices benefit student learning,
  • Increase an instructor’s knowledge, skill, and/or capacity to design, deliver, and/or assess community engaged learning, and/or
  • Support a connection to a network of community engaged learning practitioners seeking to work on a collaborative project or initiative.

Note: Access will be on a first come, first serve basis and applications will be assessed throughout the year until the fund is exhausted. Funds must be used within 6 months of the grant being awarded. Successful applicants are required to respond to a short CCEL survey after using the funds.

Eligibility: Open to all tenured or tenure-track faculty members, lecturers, sessional instructors, clinical fellows and adjunct faculty members.
