CCEL has designed a self-directed course for faculty and instructors interested in community engaged pedagogies. The course is intended for practitioners with the goal of creating a space to share relevant teaching resources and nurture discussions among instructors. 

Considerable research and literature on community engaged learning pedagogy and practice are available below. This repository is regularly updated and includes foundational literature, outcomes literature, and discipline-based literature.

The Introduction to Community Engaged Learning course is a self-paced, student-facing resource that faculty and instructors can integrate into courses with a community engaged learning component. It introduces students to the foundations of community engaged learning and helps them develop the knowledge and awareness needed to engage with communities in thoughtful, ethical, and reciprocal ways.

The course is particularly helpful for international students and students who are new to Vancouver, offering opportunities to build cultural awareness, explore ethical approaches to community engagement, and better understand the diverse communities and contexts they may encounter.

Faculty can use the course as a preparation resource, assigned learning activity, or complement to in-class learning, providing students with a shared foundation before or during their community engaged experience.
