The Scientific Methods and Research Techniques (SMaRT) program from UBC Let’s Talk Science has concluded for the year, marking a major success in promoting scientific education among BC youth.
Impact and Outreach
This year, 57 exceptional volunteers dedicated their time to create 11 innovative and engaging science activities. These resources will be available for use in classrooms across the country, providing valuable teaching tools to educators everywhere.
The volunteers conducted 37 classroom visits, reaching over 750 students in underserved schools throughout the Vancouver area. Through these visits, students had the opportunity to engage with hands-on science activities, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of scientific concepts.
Volunteers’ Contributions
The work of our UBC volunteers in the SMaRT program has played a crucial role in bolstering the scientific education of BC youth. Their passion for science is evident in their efforts to spread their love of the subject to the next generation of learners.
Looking Forward
We are grateful to our volunteers for their dedication and hard work throughout the year. Their contributions have made a tangible impact on the scientific education landscape in our community. We look forward to seeing the continued success and growth of the SMaRT program in the future!
